About this product
The channel superstructure does not touch the glass, but its job is to manage it: to spread the burner flame, direct the cooling air and control heat loss. What the material must deliver is therefore not corrosion resistance but thermal shock resistance and dimensional stability. A zircon mullite body provides that balance, and covers are planned together with their insulation layer.
Material
Zircon mullite is a mullite matrix reinforced with zircon (ZrSiO₄). In contact with molten glass it shows low wettability and sound corrosion resistance while keeping the melt clean. It is the standard choice for forehearth channel blocks, spouts, feeder expendables, vitrified supports and gob delivery blocks.
Applications
- Channel covers and burner blocks
- Cooling air ducts
- Superstructure body pieces
