About this product
Covers set the heat budget of the channel: if too much heat escapes the glass cools and forming suffers at the machine; if too little escapes the target viscosity is never reached. Cover blocks are calculated at the thickness that holds this balance, together with their insulation. Burner, thermocouple and peep-hole openings are pre-cut in the cover to shorten installation.
Material
Zircon mullite is a mullite matrix reinforced with zircon (ZrSiO₄). In contact with molten glass it shows low wettability and sound corrosion resistance while keeping the melt clean. It is the standard choice for forehearth channel blocks, spouts, feeder expendables, vitrified supports and gob delivery blocks.
Applications
- Channel top cover courses
