Light, cycle-proof hardware for ceramic kilns
Cordierite (2MgO·2Al₂O₃·5SiO₂) owes its long service life to a very low thermal expansion, which suits kilns that heat and cool several times a day. It is the base material for firing plates, kiln props, plate carriers and car-top hardware. Compositions blended with mullite and silicon carbide allow higher temperatures under load.
