About this product
Glass leaving the furnace has not yet dropped to channel temperature, so in this first section the material faces both higher temperature and faster flow. Feeder bricks used here are specified in a higher zircon grade than those mid-channel. Grading the transition zone by temperature, instead of closing it with a single material, extends campaign life.
Material
Zircon mullite is a mullite matrix reinforced with zircon (ZrSiO₄). In contact with molten glass it shows low wettability and sound corrosion resistance while keeping the melt clean. It is the standard choice for forehearth channel blocks, spouts, feeder expendables, vitrified supports and gob delivery blocks.
Applications
- Furnace outlet transition zone
- High-temperature channel entry
- Distributor entry blocks
