About this product
A silicon carbide tube is chosen when the medium inside must be heated or outside heat must be transferred in; metal tubes oxidise at these temperatures while SiC holds. It serves as a thermocouple sleeve, a radiant heating tube and in molten metal immersion duties. It can be produced in various bores and wall thicknesses, including closed at one end.
Material
Silicon carbide has the highest thermal conductivity among refractories. It evens out temperature distribution inside the kiln and carries heavy loads even in thin plates, cutting the dead weight of the setting and raising kiln efficiency. It also resists abrasion, oxidation and attack from molten metals.
Applications
- Radiant heating tubes
- Thermocouple protection sleeves
- Molten metal immersion parts
