About this product
On long spans the real problem is not fracture but slow sagging at temperature: a beam can droop visibly after a few hundred cycles. Silicon carbide beams resist creep at high temperature and so allow longer spans with fewer props. Section and length are selected against the load to be carried.
Material
Silicon carbide has the highest thermal conductivity among refractories. It evens out temperature distribution inside the kiln and carries heavy loads even in thin plates, cutting the dead weight of the setting and raising kiln efficiency. It also resists abrasion, oxidation and attack from molten metals.
Applications
- Long span shelf systems
- Kiln car load-bearing frame
- Heavy ware firing layouts
