About this product
The most valuable property of mullite is that it holds its shape under load at high temperature; where many refractories start to settle slowly above 1400 °C, mullite resists. It is therefore used in load-bearing pieces and in zones where a long campaign is expected. Its moderate thermal expansion also relaxes the heating schedule.
Material
Mullite is the stable crystalline phase of alumina and silica at the 3Al₂O₃·2SiO₂ composition. Because it combines creep resistance at temperature with good thermal shock behaviour, it serves both in glass furnace superstructure and in ceramic firing hardware. Alongside standard sizes, Kent Ateş Tuğla cuts fired and fused mullite blocks to the dimensions each project requires.
Applications
- Furnace superstructure and supports
- Ceramic firing hardware
- High temperature channel blocks
