About this product
Frit furnaces resemble glass furnaces but are emptied and refilled far more often, which loads the refractory with constant thermal shock. The lead, boron and alkalis in the frit composition add an aggressive corrosion environment on top. For that combination AZS blocks and high-alumina grades are selected together, with the outlet and pouring zone reinforced separately.
Material
AZS (alumina–zirconia–silica) is a fused cast refractory produced by melting the raw mix in an electric arc furnace and casting it into moulds. Its zirconia content gives outstanding corrosion resistance against molten glass, which is why it is the default choice for the tank bottom, sidewalls and throat — everywhere the glass makes direct contact. Kent Ateş Tuğla supplies the 33% and 36% ZrO₂ grades both as standard blocks and as project-specific cuts and shapes.
