About this product

A glass furnace is not lined with one material but with a map of materials chosen for the stress of each zone: AZS in the tank, silica and alpha-beta alumina in the superstructure, magnesite and fireclay in the regenerator, zircon mullite in the channel. Kent Ateş Tuğla draws up that entire map, prepares the block list and supplies it ex stock or from the cutting shop.

Material

AZS (alumina–zirconia–silica) is a fused cast refractory produced by melting the raw mix in an electric arc furnace and casting it into moulds. Its zirconia content gives outstanding corrosion resistance against molten glass, which is why it is the default choice for the tank bottom, sidewalls and throat — everywhere the glass makes direct contact. Kent Ateş Tuğla supplies the 33% and 36% ZrO₂ grades both as standard blocks and as project-specific cuts and shapes.

Applications

  • New furnace build
  • Cold repair
  • Hot repair and zone renewal
