About this product

The melting section is the hottest and chemically most aggressive part of the furnace, and it is largely where glass quality is decided. High-ZrO₂ AZS lines the tank walls, with specially selected blocks at the glass line. In the superstructure, silica arch and alpha-beta alumina are planned together so the melt stays uncontaminated.

Material

AZS (alumina–zirconia–silica) is a fused cast refractory produced by melting the raw mix in an electric arc furnace and casting it into moulds. Its zirconia content gives outstanding corrosion resistance against molten glass, which is why it is the default choice for the tank bottom, sidewalls and throat — everywhere the glass makes direct contact. Kent Ateş Tuğla supplies the 33% and 36% ZrO₂ grades both as standard blocks and as project-specific cuts and shapes.

Applications

  • Melting tank walls and floor
  • Glass line zone blocks
  • Superstructure and crown
