About this product
The throat is the narrow section through which all the glass in the furnace must pass. Flow velocity is high, temperature is high, and wear accordingly proceeds faster here than anywhere else — in most furnaces it is the one item planned for replacement mid-campaign. It is produced from high-ZrO₂ grade blocks and ground so the geometry creates no turbulence in the flow.
Material
AZS (alumina–zirconia–silica) is a fused cast refractory produced by melting the raw mix in an electric arc furnace and casting it into moulds. Its zirconia content gives outstanding corrosion resistance against molten glass, which is why it is the default choice for the tank bottom, sidewalls and throat — everywhere the glass makes direct contact. Kent Ateş Tuğla supplies the 33% and 36% ZrO₂ grades both as standard blocks and as project-specific cuts and shapes.
